Sree Vengeri Mahadeva Temple, situated in Ottappalam, Palakkad, Kerala, is a revered spiritual center dedicated to Lord Mahadeva.
The presiding deity, Lord Sree Mahadeva, is enshrined here in a divine and serene form, symbolizing the moment after he bestowed the sacred Pashupathasthra to Arjuna. Alongside Mahadeva, Sree Maha Vishnu and other upadevathas are also worshipped, making the temple a vibrant confluence of divine energies.
Originally the Thevaara Murthi of the historic Vengeri Mana, the temple’s current form evolved around 500 years ago. The consecration of Sree Maha Vishnu and the other deities followed later, enriching the spiritual sanctity of the site. Today, the temple draws devotees from across the region who seek solace and blessings at the lotus feet of the Lord.
Maha Shivaratri is celebrated here with great devotion and grandeur. The rituals include sacred Abhishekam with offerings like milk, honey, and water, followed by Ganapathi Homam, Annadanam, Deeparadhana, Shiva Sahasranama Archana, Pushpanjali, and the auspicious Uma Maheswara Pooja — offering a spiritually uplifting experience for all participants.
Another significant festival is Illam Nira, which celebrates the first harvest of paddy.
Freshly harvested grains are ceremonially offered to the deity as a mark of gratitude and a prayer for continued abundance. This tradition brings the community together in a celebration of prosperity, devotion, and divine blessings.

നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ പഴക്കമുള്ള ശ്രീ വേങ്ങേരി മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം പാലക്കാട് ജില്ലയിലെ ഒറ്റപ്പാലം പ്രദേശത്താണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.
