Aluvamkudi Sri Mahadeva Temple is located within the mountainous forests of Sabarimala, specifically in the panchayat of Gurunathanmannu, Thekkuthode, Seetathode, in the Pathanamthitta District.
Aluvamkudi Sree Mahadeva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the hilly forests of the Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, India. This temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva, is believed to have been established by Parashurama.
During a Devaprashnam, an astrological ritual, it was revealed that Rama had performed poojas at this site. According to the archaeological department, the temple is estimated to be over 2000 years old. The temple remained deserted for an extended period until it was rediscovered by a hunter in the 1940s. The initial visitors to examine the temple were residents from areas such as Gurunathanmannu and Thekkuthode.
In contemporary times, regular poojas are performed on the first day of each Malayalam month. Additionally, special poojas and festivals are held annually on Shivaratri day, commemorating its rediscovery. The temple is situated within a dense forest that is part of the Vadasserikkara range in the Ranni forest division. The closest inhabited areas are Gurunathanmannu and Thoompakkulam.
ആലുവാങ്കുടി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവർ ക്ഷേത്രം
പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ പർവത വനങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു പുരാതന ഹൈന്ദവ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ആലുവാംകുടി ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം. പരശുരാമൻ സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഈ ശിവക്ഷേത്രം, ദേവപ്രശ്നം (ജ്യോതിഷ ആചാരം) സമയത്ത് രാമൻ പൂജകൾ നടത്തിയതായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് ഏകദേശം 2000 വർഷത്തിലേറെ പഴക്കമുണ്ടെന്ന് പുരാവസ്തു വകുപ്പ് വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.
വളരെക്കാലം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം 1940-കളിൽ ഒരു വേട്ടക്കാരൻ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരുന്നു. ഗുരുനാഥൻമണ്ണ്, തേക്കുതോട് തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ആളുകൾ ആദ്യമായി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്തി പരിശോധന നടത്തി. ഇപ്പോൾ എല്ലാ മലയാള മാസത്തിന്റെ ഒന്നാം തീയതി പതിവായി പൂജകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
വീണ്ടും കണ്ടെത്തിയതിന്റെ ശേഷം, എല്ലാ വർഷവും ശിവരാത്രി ദിനത്തിൽ പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും ഉത്സവങ്ങളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. റാന്നി ഫോറസ്റ്റ് ഡിവിഷനിലെ വടശ്ശേരിക്കര റേഞ്ചിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന വനത്തിൽ ആണ് ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഗുരുനാഥൻമണ്ണും തോമ്പക്കുളവുമാണ് സമീപത്തുള്ള പ്രശസ്തമായ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ.
