Cherukolpuzha Sri Subrahmanyaswamy Temple, an ancient place of worship, is situated in Ayirur village at Cherukolpuzha, positioned on the left bank of the revered Pampa River.
In addition to Subrahmanya Swami, the temple is also graced by the presence of Ganapati, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, as well as the mountain deities and Shasta. The principal festival of the temple is Thaipooyam, which occurs in the month of Makara. Furthermore, Shasthivratam is a significant observance undertaken by devotees seeking the blessings of Skanda Shashti Subrahmanya during the month of Thulam.
This fast is specifically performed to gain favor from Subrahmanya. Many individuals hold the belief that Shasthivratam is particularly auspicious for those desiring to have a son. A notable observance is Skanda Shashti, celebrated on the Shashti day of the month of Thulam. In various regions, the Shashti Vratam is a six-day fast commencing from Prathama. It is traditionally believed that on this day, Subrahmanya vanquished Shurapadmasura, which is why Shashti in the month of Thulam is regarded with such significance and is celebrated as Skandashashti.
Special pujas are conducted in numerous Subrahmanya temples across Kerala. പത്തനംതിട്ട പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 12.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ കിഴക്കായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന അയിരൂർ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ ചെറുകോൽപുഴയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം, അയിരൂർ പുതിയകാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 2.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ്. കലിയുഗത്തിലെ വരദനായ ശ്രീ ധർമ്മശാസ്താവിന്റെ പാദാരവിന്ദങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നാണ് ഉത്ഭവിച്ച പുണ്യ നദിയായ പമ്പയുടെ ഇടതുകരയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രം ചെറുകോൽപ്പുഴ ശ്രീ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം.
