Gurunathanmukadi Sri Ayyappaguru temple is located on a picturesque hill, adjacent to the banks of the Achankovil River, directly across from the Pandalam Sri Valiyakoickal Dharma Sastha Temple.
The narrative surrounding the Ayyappaguru temple is closely linked to the Pandalam kingdom. According to the tale, when Sri Manikandan, the young Ayyappa, was raised in the Pandalam palace, he received instruction in various disciplines from his guru, Sri Gurunathan, who is regarded as an incarnation of Sivachaithanya and a Mahayogi.
Sri Gurunathan arrived in Pandalam, guided by a vision from Lord Siva. With the support and blessings of Sri Rajasekharan, the reigning king of Pandalam, Sri Gurunathan established a Gurukulam on a nearby hill, assuming the role of Gurukula Guru. He imparted knowledge of numerous sastras to Manikandan, who also excelled in martial arts. Pleased with Manikandan's aptitude for learning, Gurunathan presented him with a golden ‘Churika’ as a reward.
In a demonstration of his abilities, Sri Manikandan cured the congenital deafness and muteness of Gurunathan's son as a form of gurudakshina. In these sacred hills lies a temple complex dedicated to the worship of deities such as Sri Ayyappaguru, Sri Ayyappa, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Sri Bhadra, Lord Ganapati, Sri Nagaraja, and Nagayakshi, all revered through established religious practices. Unfortunately, we have not yet succeeded in adequately promoting the legendary significance of this temple complex, which would help draw devotees from distant regions.
In the near future, there will be increased opportunities to attract Ayyappa devotees to the revered Gurunathanmukadi. It is essential for devotees to be informed about the Guru of Sri Ayyappa Swami, the origins of his Gurukulavidya, and the location where the Guru attained Samadhi.
ഗുരുനാഥൻമുകടി ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പഗുരു ക്ഷേത്രം
പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ പന്തളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 4.7 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ചരിത്രപരമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ഗുരുനാഥൻമുകടി ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പഗുരു ക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, പന്തളം ശ്രീ വലിയകോയിക്കൽ ധർമ്മ ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ എതിർവശത്ത്, അച്ചൻകോവിൽ നദിയുടെ തീരത്ത് മനോഹരമായ കുന്നിന്റെ മുകളിലാണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. അയ്യപ്പഗുരു ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഐതിഹ്യം പന്തളം രാജ്യത്തോടുള്ള ബന്ധത്തിൽ നിക്ഷിപ്തമാണ്.
ശ്രീ മണികണ്ഠൻ (യുവ അയ്യപ്പൻ) പന്തളം കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ വളർന്നപ്പോൾ, ശിവചൈതന്യത്തിന്റെ അവതാരമായ ശ്രീ ഗുരുനാഥൻ എന്ന മഹായോഗിയിൽ നിന്ന് 'വിദ്യ' പഠിച്ചതായി ഐതിഹ്യം പറയുന്നു. ശിവൻ സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വഴികാട്ടിയതനുസരിച്ച്, ശ്രീ ഗുരുനാഥൻ പന്തളത്തെത്തി. അന്നത്തെ പന്തളം രാജാവായിരുന്ന ശ്രീ രാജശേഖരന്റെ രക്ഷയും അനുഗ്രഹവും കൊണ്ട്, ശ്രീ ഗുരുനാഥൻ ഒരു കുന്നിന്റെ മുകളിൽ ഗുരുകുലം സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും, അദ്ദേഹം ഗുരുകുല ഗുരുവായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്തു. മണികണ്ഠനെ വിവിധ അസ്ത്രശാസ്ത്രങ്ങൾ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു. മണികണ്ഠൻ യുദ്ധകലയിലെ പ്രാവീണ്യം നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പഠനകാലത്ത് ഗുരുനാഥൻ അത്യന്തം സന്തുഷ്ടനായി, മണികണ്ഠനോട് തൻറെ സ്വർണ്ണ 'ചൂരിക' സമ്മാനിച്ചു. ഗുരുനാഥന്റെ മകന്റെ ജന്മത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായ ബധിരതയും മൂകതയും ശ്രീ മണികണ്ഠൻ ഗുരുദക്ഷിണയായി പരിഹരിച്ചു. ഇങ്ങനെ, ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പൻ തൻറെ ദിവ്യത്വം ലോകത്തിന് വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി. ശ്രീ ഗുരുനാഥൻ തന്റെ ജീവിതകാലം മുഴുവൻ ഗുരുകുലത്തിൽ കുന്നുകളിൽ ചെലവഴിച്ചു, പിന്നീട് 'വിശുദ്ധ സമാധി'യിൽ പ്രവേശിച്ചു.
ഈ പുണ്യമല ഇപ്പോൾ ഗുരുനാഥൻമുകടി എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ പുണ്യമലകളിൽ ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പഗുരു, ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പൻ, ശിവൻ, വിഷ്ണു, ശ്രീ ഭദ്ര, ഗണപതി, ശ്രീ നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി എന്നിവരുടെ വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ മതാചാരപ്രകാരം ആരാധിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ചയം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് നമുക്ക് അറിയാം. എന്നാൽ, ഗുരുനാഥൻമുകടിയിലുള്ള അയ്യപ്പഗുരുവിന്റെ ഏക ക്ഷേത്രമാണിത്.
