Karunathukav Srikrishna Swamy Temple is situated in the Pathanamthitta district, approximately 2.4 kilometers from Thiruvalla, in the area of Kavumbhagam, and is managed by ISKCON.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), commonly referred to as the Hare Krishna movement, encompasses five hundred significant centers, temples, and rural communities, along with thousands of namahattas or local congregational groups, a diverse array of community initiatives, and millions of members around the globe.
Despite being less than fifty years old on the international scene, ISKCON has experienced substantial growth since its establishment by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda in New York City in 1966. ISKCON members engage in bhakti-yoga both at home and in temple settings. They actively promote bhakti-yoga, also known as Krishna Consciousness, through various means such as festivals, performing arts, yoga seminars, public chanting, and the dissemination of the society's literature.
Additionally, ISKCON members have established hospitals, schools, colleges, eco-villages, free food distribution initiatives, and other institutions, demonstrating the practical implementation of the devotional yoga path.

പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിൽ തിരുവല്ലയിൽ നിന്ന് 2.4 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയുള്ള കാവുംഭാഗത്ത് ISKCON ന്റെ മേൽനോട്ടത്തിൽ കരുനാട്ടുകാവ് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഹരേകൃഷ്ണ പ്രസ്ഥാനം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇസ്കോൺ, ഗൗഡിയ വൈഷ്ണവരുടെ ഒരു മതസംഘടനയാണ്. എ. സി. ഭക്തിവേദാന്ത സ്വാമി പ്രഭുപാദ 1966-ൽ ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റിയിൽ ഈ സംഘടന സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. പ്രഭുപാദയെ ഇസ്കോൺ വിശ്വാസികൾ ഗുരുവും ആധ്യാത്മിക നേതാവും ആയി കണക്കാക്കുന്നു.
ഹിന്ദു പുരാണങ്ങളായ ഭഗവത് ഗീതയും ഭാഗവതവും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന തത്ത്വങ്ങൾ ഈ സംഘടനയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാന വിശ്വാസങ്ങളാണ്. ബംഗാളിലും ബീഹാറിലും കഴിഞ്ഞ അഞ്ഞൂറു വർഷമായി ഈ ആശയങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുയായികൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്നു. ഭഗവത് ഗീതയുടെയും ഭാഗവതത്തിൻറെയും മറ്റ് ചില ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെയും വിപുലമായ വിവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്കും എഴുത്തുകൾക്കും വഴിയൊരുക്കിയതാണ് ഈ ആശയങ്ങൾ പാശ്ചാത്യലോകത്തിലേക്ക് എത്തിച്ചത്. ഇസ്കോണിന് 'ഹരേകൃഷ്ണ പ്രസ്ഥാനം' എന്ന പേര് ലഭിച്ചത്, ഭക്തന്മാർ ഏതു സമയത്തും ഭജിക്കുകയും ജപിക്കുകയും പാടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന മഹാമന്ത്രമായ 'ഹരേ കൃഷ്ണ, ഹരേ കൃഷ്ണ, കൃഷ്ണ കൃഷ്ണ, ഹരേ ഹരേ; ഹരേ രാമ, ഹരേ രാമ, രാമ രാമ, ഹരേ ഹരേ' എന്ന ചൊല്ലിൽ നിന്നാണ്.
ഭൂമിയിൽ സമത്വവും സമാധാനവും സ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ, ആത്മീയ അറിവിനെ സമഗ്രമായി സമൂഹത്തിലേക്ക് വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുകയും മൂല്യങ്ങളുടെ മാറ്റങ്ങൾക്കായി ആത്മീയ ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ രീതികളെ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യണം. ഭഗവത് ഗീതയിലും ഭാഗവതത്തിലും പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന കൃഷ്ണാവബോധം പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുക. പുനർജനം അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. സമൂഹത്തിലെ എല്ലാവരെയും പരസ്പരം ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ച് പരമമൂർത്തിയായ കൃഷ്ണന്റെ അടുത്തേക്ക് എത്തിച്ച്, മാനുഷിക ബോധം എല്ലാവരിലും സൃഷ്ടിക്കണം, ഓരോരുത്തരും കൃഷ്ണന്റെ ഗുണങ്ങളുടെ ഭാഗമാണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കണം.
