Kottapara Malanada Sree Mahadeva Temple is located on a hill approximately 1.5 kilometers from Seethathode in the Pathanamthitta district. This temple is recognized as one of the most significant hill temples in the region.
To access the temple, one must ascend the rock for approximately half a kilometer. The temple is located atop a hill, offering a picturesque view at an elevation of around 400 feet above sea level. The principal deity worshiped here is Malayapuppan (Mahadeva), accompanied by several sub-deities including Ganapati, Brahmarakshas, Rakshas, Arukula, Malamurthy, Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, and Akhilasarpam.
The Makam Thirunal Mahotsavam at Kottapara Malanada Sri Mahadeva Temple is a significant festival for the region, drawing participants from across the country to engage in the celebrations. The temple's administration is managed by a committee elected by the members of the 'Kara,' who are recognized as being under the authority of the Malanada Appupan.
The yearly celebration at Malanada is referred to as 'Malakuda'. This event takes place annually during the latter part of March, coinciding with the conclusion of land farming activities and preceding the initiation of rice cultivation in wetland areas, specifically paddy fields.
'Malakuda' is observed on the second Friday of the Malayalam month 'Meenam', which corresponds to the period when Pisces is active, from mid-March to mid-April. This occasion marks the commencement of the 'Kodiyate' (Urali hoisting ceremony) festival in Meenam, and the festivities continue for a duration of eight days.

പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ സീതത്തോടിൽ നിന്ന് 1.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെ, മലമുകളിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിലെ പ്രധാന മലനട ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കോട്ടപ്പാറ മലനട ശ്രീ മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്താൻ ഏകദേശം അര കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരമോളം പാറയുടെ മുകളിലേക്ക് നടന്ന് കയറേണ്ടതാണ്.
മലയുടെ മുകളിൽ മനോഹരമായ പ്രകൃതിയുള്ള സ്ഥലത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 400 അടിയോളം ഉയരത്തിൽ ആണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. പ്രധാന ആരാധനാ മൂർത്തി മലയപ്പൂപ്പനാണ് (മഹാദേവൻ). ഉപദേവതകളായി ഗണപതി, ബ്രഹ്മരക്ഷസ്സ്, രക്ഷസ്സ്, അറുകുല, മലമൂർത്തി, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി, അഖിലസർപ്പം എന്നിവരുടെ നടകളുണ്ട്.
മലനടയിലെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം 'മലക്കുട' എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. വേനൽക്കാലത്ത്, ഓരോ വർഷവും മാർച്ച് രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിൽ കരയിലെ കാർഷിക പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ അവസാനിക്കുന്നതോടെ, നനഞ്ഞ ഭൂമിയിൽ (നെൽവയലുകൾ) നെൽകൃഷി ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് 'മലക്കുട' ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. മലയാളമാസമായ 'മീനം' മാസത്തിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച 'മലക്കുട' (മീനം മാർച്ച് മധ്യത്തിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച് ഏപ്രിൽ പകുതിയോടെ അവസാനിക്കും) ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ വരവിനെ കുറിച്ച് അറിയിക്കുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് എട്ടുദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന ഉത്സവം നടക്കുന്നു.
