Anikad village is situated 4 kilometers to the east of Mallapally in the Pathanamthitta district. This panchayat is home to the revered and historic Malankota Devasthanam.
Malankota, situated in Pulikamala within the Anikad Panchayat of Mallapally Taluk, serves as a sacred site where devotees believe in the presence of Thiruvaipurappan. This shrine is a focal point of worship for over a thousand families residing in the regions of Anikad, Vaipur, Vellavur, and Kulatur.
The Elikuzha family, along with the priest, brings the sword and chilambu to the Layaur Mahadeva temple, where they present offerings, seek permission, and conduct the Malayut puja. According to revenue records, Malankota and its vicinity remain under the ownership of Vaipur Mahadevan.
The deity of Bhutathan Vallyachan, located in the northeast corner of the Vaipur Mahadeva Temple, faces Malankota. Historically, tribal communities such as the Ulladars and Malavedars inhabited the area surrounding Malankota Devasthanam. This site serves as a communal place of worship for these diverse religious groups, with participation from individuals of all castes and faiths.

മല്ലപ്പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്നും 4 കി.മി കിഴക്കോട്ട് സഞ്ചരിച്ചാൽ ആനിക്കാട് ഗ്രാമം എത്തും. ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് ധാരാളം അയിനി (ആഞ്ഞിലി) വൃക്ഷങ്ങൾ വളർന്നിരുന്നു. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾക്കുമുമ്പ് നിർമ്മിച്ച അറക്കൂട്ടം പുരകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ ആഞ്ഞിലി നിർലോഭം ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നു.
അയിനിമരങ്ങളുടെ കാട് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തെ അയിനിക്കാട് എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു, പിന്നീട് ഇത് ആനിക്കാടായി മാറി. ഈ പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ പുണ്യപുരാതനമായ മലങ്കോട്ട ദേവസ്ഥാനം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു. തിരുവായ്പൂരപ്പന്റെ സാനിധ്യം ഉള്ളതെന്ന് ഭക്തർ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്ന ദേവസ്ഥാനം മല്ലപ്പള്ളി താലൂക്കിൽ ആനിക്കാട് പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ പുളിക്കമലയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
