Malayalappuzha Devi Temple is a Bhadrakali shrine located in Malayalappuzha, within the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala.
The closest railway station is Chengannur railway station. It is thought that the temple was constructed over a millennium ago. Within the temple, Bhadrakali is depicted in a fierce aspect immediately following the defeat of the demon Darika. The principal idol stands at a height of 5.5 feet and is crafted from katu sarkara yogam. Additionally, two other idols are situated within the sanctum sanctorum; one is designated for abhisheka, while the other is utilized for sreebali, a daily ritual.
Malayalapuzha Devi is revered for her ability to bestow blessings that enhance the prosperity of her devotees. The goddess is venerated for safeguarding her followers from adversaries, facilitating marriages for unmarried women, securing employment for the jobless, and promoting the success of businesses. This widespread belief and devotion attract numerous visitors to the temple from distant places. The deity is also referred to as Goddess Idathattil Bhagwathi.
In a time long past, two individuals from the Namboothiri community of northern Travancore were engaged in meditation at the Mookambika temple. They carried with them an idol of Bhadrakali. After an extended period of meditation, they received a divine message from Bhadrakali, indicating that the idol would always embody her presence. The Namboothiris continued their pilgrimage while safeguarding the idol. As they aged and found it increasingly difficult to travel, Bhadrakali manifested before them and suggested that Malayalappuzha was the most suitable location for the idol's installation.
Heeding her counsel, the Namboothiris journeyed to Malayappuzha and established the idol there. The Malayalapuzha Devi Temple is renowned for its exquisite wall paintings and intricate stone carvings. A distinctive statue of Goddess Parvati can be found within the temple, depicting her nurturing baby Ganapathy on her lap. Additionally, an idol of Veera Bhadra is positioned at the entrance of the sanctum.
The temple also houses sub deities, including Brahma Rakshas, Nagaraja, and a swayambu Shiva Linga. The annual festival is observed over a span of 11 days, commencing on the Thiruvathira nakshatra during the Kumba month (February – March). Kathakali performances are held on the fourth and fifth days of the festival. The temple is accessible for darshan from 5 AM to 1 PM and again from 5 PM to 8 PM.
മലയാലപ്പുഴ ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം
കേരളത്തിലെ പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിൽ മലയാലപ്പുഴയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മലയാലപ്പുഴ ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം അടുത്തുള്ള ചെങ്ങന്നൂർ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനോട് ചേർന്നാണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഏകദേശം 1000 വർഷം മുമ്പ് പണിതെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ, ദാരിക എന്ന അസുരനെ വധിച്ച ശേഷം ഭദ്രകാളി ഉഗ്രരൂപത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുന്നു.
പ്രധാന വിഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഉയരം 5.5 അടി ആണ്, ഇത് കടു ശർക്കര ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈ വിഗ്രഹത്തിന് പുറമെ, ശ്രീകോവിലിനുള്ളിൽ മറ്റ് രണ്ട് വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഒന്ന് അഭിഷേകത്തിനും മറ്റൊന്ന് ശ്രീബലിക്കും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. മലയാലപ്പുഴ ദേവി എല്ലാ ഭക്തന്മാർക്കും സമൃദ്ധി നൽകുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. ഭക്തരെ ശത്രുക്കളിൽ നിന്ന് സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും അവിവാഹിതരായ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ വിവാഹത്തിനും തൊഴിൽ രഹിതരായവർക്കു ജോലി ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും ബിസിനസ്സ് വളർച്ചയ്ക്കും ദേവിയെ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.
ഈ ജനകീയ വിശ്വാസം ദൂരദേശങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഭക്തരെ ക്ഷേത്രം സന്ദർശിക്കാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ഇടത്താട്ടിൽ ഭഗവതി എന്ന പേരിൽ ദേവി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. വാർഷിക ഉത്സവം 11 ദിവസങ്ങളോളം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ (ഫെബ്രുവരി - മാർച്ച്) തിരുവാതിര നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ ഉത്സവം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. നാലാമത്തെയും അഞ്ചാമത്തെയും ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ കഥകളി അവതരിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. രാവിലെ 5 മണി മുതൽ ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് 1 മണി വരെയും, വൈകുന്നേരം 5 മണി മുതൽ 8 മണി വരെയും ക്ഷേത്രം ദർശനത്തിനായി തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
