മാത്തൂർകാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ പന്തളത്തുനിന്നും കുളനടവഴി ഓമല്ലൂർ റൂട്ടിൽ ഏകദേശം 8 കിലോമീറ്റർ യാത്രചെയ്താൽ പുരാതനമായ മാത്തുർക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെത്താം. അച്ചൻകോവിലാറിന്റെ കരയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് 400 വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുണ്ടെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ദേവി ഭദ്രകാളി രൂപത്തിൽ ഇവിടെ കുടികൊള്ളുന്നു. പണ്ടുകാലത്ത് ഈ പ്രദേശം തുമ്പമൺ ദേശത്തിന്റെ ഇറങ്കരദേശമായിരുന്നു.
ജനസംഖ്യ വളരെ കുറവുള്ള ഒരു വനപ്രദേശമായിരുന്നു ഇത്. അന്നത്തെ കാലത്ത് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന സ്ഥലം ഒരു യക്ഷിക്കാവ് ആയിരുന്നു, അതിനാൽ ഈ കാവിന്റെ പരിസരത്ത് നടക്കാൻ ആരും ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നില്ല. അസമയത്തും മറ്റും കാവിന്റെ അടുത്ത് സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് യക്ഷിയുടെ ഉപദ്രവം ഉണ്ടാകുമെന്ന് ഭയന്നിരുന്നു. അന്നിവിടെ താമസിച്ചിരുന്ന കുടുംബങ്ങൾ എല്ലാം ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് അറിയാമായിരുന്നു.
യക്ഷിയുടെ ഉപദ്രവം നീക്കുന്നതിനായി ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിച്ച് ഭദ്രകാളിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയത് എന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ക്ഷേത്രം പണിതശേഷം യക്ഷിയുടെ ഉപദ്രവം ഇല്ലാതാവുകയും ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് അതുവഴി സ്വതന്ത്രമായി സഞ്ചരിക്കാനുമുള്ള അവസരം ലഭിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഉപദേവതകളായ ഗണപതി, ആദിത്യൻ, യക്ഷിയമ്മ, അംബിക, നാഗരാജാവ്, നാഗയക്ഷി, വിഷ്ണു, ശിവൻ, ദുർഗ്ഗ, നവഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ, രക്ഷസ്സ് എന്നിവ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ ആയി താലിപൂജ, അന്നദാനം, ഗുരുതി മഹാനിവേദ്യം എന്നിവയാണ്. ഗണപതിക്ക് അപ്പം മൂടൽ, ഒറ്റയപ്പം, നിവേദ്യം, നവഗ്രഹപൂജ എന്നിവ പ്രത്യേക വഴിപാടുകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. മേടമാസത്തിൽ ഉത്രമഹോത്സവവും, പ്രതിഷ്ഠാ വാർഷികവും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
