Omallur Chakkulathkav Devi Temple is a historic temple situated in the village of Omallur, within the Pathanamthitta district.
Omallur Chakkulathukav Devi Temple is renowned for hosting the Trikarthika Mahotsava and Pongala during the month of Vrischikam, as well as the Kalamezhuthu. Kalamezhuthu, along with Pattum Kalam, represents a distinctive drawing tradition in Kerala, rooted in a ritual art form that dates back to the Sanghom Age.
These Kalams hold significant importance in the rituals of Kerala, where images of beloved Goddesses are created on the ground using colored powders. Accompanying these drawings, devotional songs are performed to honor the deities depicted. Coloured powders serve as the primary materials for creating the kalam. Traditionally, five natural hues are employed: white, black, yellow, green, and red.
Various natural substances are utilized to produce these colors. The white hue is derived from rice flour, while charcoal powder is used for black, turmeric powder for yellow, powdered green leaves for green, and a combination of turmeric powder and lime for red. In the case of Nagakalam, powdered manchadi (Bead tree) leaves replace vaka (gulmohar) leaves, as the latter are toxic.
The rituals typically commence at dusk with the Ganapathi pooja. The design for this occasion features Nagas and Nagaraja. Upon the completion of the design, Pancharchana is conducted, followed by Akamuzhiyal, which involves striking the Pulluva Kudam (pot). Subsequently, Muram pooja is performed for Garudan, along with Noorum Paalum offered to the serpents.
Following these rites, Bhadrakali and the Ashtavastus are venerated, after which the fasting girls enter the design and begin to dance (thullal). The songs performed include Ganapathy Vandanam and those aimed at exorcising the Nagas. The Ashtanagas consist of Ananthan, Vasuki, Thakshakan, Karkodakan, Shankupalan, Mahapadman, Padman, and Kaaliyan. Young girls dance while shaking arecanut flowers (pookulas in Malayalam).

പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ ഓമല്ലൂർ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ഓമല്ലൂർ ചക്കുളത്ത്കാവ് ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം. പത്തനംതിട്ട ടൗണിൽ നിന്നും 4.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. ദുർഗ്ഗാദേവിയെ ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഓമല്ലൂർ ചക്കുളത്ത്കാവ് ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വൃശ്ചിക മാസത്തിലെ തൃക്കാർത്തിക മഹോത്സവം, പൊങ്കാല, കൂടാതെ അതിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള കളമെഴുത്തും പാട്ടും ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്നാടിന്റെ സമൃദ്ധിയും ക്ഷേമവും ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനായി നടത്തുന്ന ഒരു അനുഷ്ഠാന കലയാണ് കളമെഴുത്തുപാട്ട്.
പാട്ട് നടത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള സ്ഥലം ഒരുക്കുന്നതാണ് ആദ്യഘട്ടം. അടിച്ചുതളിച്ച് ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ച പാട്ടുപുരയിൽ, ക്ഷേത്രം തന്ത്രിയുടെ അനുമതിയോടെ കൂറയിടൽ ചടങ്ങ് നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. കുരുത്തോലയും പൂക്കുലയും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് വിതാനികരിക്കുന്നു. അവിടെ ഗണപതിയെ നിവേദിച്ച് ഉച്ചപ്പാട്ട് നടത്തുന്നു. ഒറ്റക്കമ്പി വീണയും കൈമണിയും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് താളരാഗങ്ങൾ ചേർത്ത് വേട്ടക്കാരനെക്കുറിച്ച് പാടുന്നു. ഇതിന് ശേഷം കളംകുറി നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇതിന് വിവിധതരം പൊടികൾ മുൻകൂട്ടി ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
അരിപ്പൊടി, ഉമിക്കരി പൊടിച്ച കരിപ്പൊടി, വാകയില തണലിൽ വെച്ചുണക്കിപ്പൊടിച്ച പച്ച, മഞ്ഞൾ പൊടി, മഞ്ഞളും ചുണ്ണാമ്പും ചേർത്ത ചുവപ്പ് എന്നിവയിലൂടെ വ്യത്യസ്ത നിറങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് രൂപം കൊള്ളുന്ന ദേവരൂപമാണ് കളങ്ങൾ. കളങ്ങളെഴുതുന്ന കരവിരുത് അതിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകതയോടെ വേറിട്ടതാണ്. മിഴിവുറ്റ രൂപങ്ങൾ രൂപംകൊള്ളുന്നു. കളം എഴുതി തയാറായാൽ, പീഠം വച്ച് തിരുവായുധം എഴുന്നേൽക്കുന്നു. കളംപാട്ടിനുള്ള മുഹൂർത്തത്തിൽ വെളിച്ചപ്പാട്, ഈടുംകൂറും, കളപ്രദക്ഷിണം എന്നിവ നടത്തുന്നു. പൂജാരി കളപൂജനടത്തിയ ശേഷം നാളികേരം ഉടക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ചടങ്ങുണ്ട്. പിന്നീട് കളം മായ്ക്കൽ നടക്കുന്നു.
