Pampa Mahaganapathi Temple is situated along the banks of the Pampa River, at the foothills of Sabarimala.
This is the initial temple and sacred site along the route from Pamba to Sannidanam, known as the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple. Other significant holy locations along this path include Neelimala, Appachimedu, Sabareepeedam, and Saramkuthi.
Access to the temple requires ascending approximately 102 steps. Additionally, the temple features subsidiary shrines dedicated to various deities, including Nagarajavu (the Serpent deity), Goddess Parvati Devi, Adimoola Ganapati, Hanuman Swami, and Bhagvan Sri Ram. The riverbank, or arat kadavu, situated in front of the Ganapathi Temple at Pampa, serves as the location where the utsava murti of Ayyappa from Sannidanam is ceremonially purified at the conclusion of the 10-day Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple festival, which occurs between March and April.
Following this purification ritual on the same day, the utsava murti, or procession idol of Lord Ayyappa, is taken to the namaskara mandapam, allowing devotees to present nirapara. Unlike the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple, which is accessible only during Madala kalam and for monthly puja, this temple remains open every day. The primary Prasadam available at the temple is modakam, which is a sweet ball. Modakam can be acquired from the counter located near the Ganapathi temple at Pampa. The principal offering at the Pampa Ganapathi Temple is coconut, which devotees break prior to ascending the mountain.

ശബരിമല തീർത്ഥാടനകാലത്ത് പ്രധാനമായ ഒരു സങ്കേതമായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. അയ്യപ്പഭക്തർ പമ്പാനദിയിൽ കുളിച്ച് പിതൃതർപ്പണം നടത്തുന്നതിന് ശേഷം, നീലിമല കയറ്റത്തിനുമുമ്പ് ഈ ഗണപതിയെ തൊഴുത് നാളികേരമുടയ്ക്കുന്നത് ഒരു ആചാരമാണ്. ശബരിമല ധർമ്മശാസ്താക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായി, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം എല്ലാ ദിവസവും തുറക്കുന്നു.
വിനായക ചതുർത്ഥി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷമാണ്. കൂടാതെ, ചിങ്ങം ഒന്നിന് നടക്കുന്ന ത്രിവേദലക്ഷാർച്ചനയും, മണ്ഡലകാലവും പ്രത്യേകമായ ആഘോഷങ്ങളാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ കീഴിലാണ്. നീലിമല കയറ്റത്തിനുമുമ്പ് സർവ്വവിഘ്നഹരനായ ഗണപതിഭഗവാനെ പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ച് മല കയറുന്നത് പുണ്യകരമായ ഒരു പ്രവൃത്തിയായി വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
