Pandalam Mahadeva Temple is located between the villages of Thottakkonam and Mulampuzha in Pandalam, Kerala, India, along the banks of the Achankovil River.
The principal deity of the temple is Lord Shiva, who is depicted in a serene demeanor with his consort Parvati seated upon his lap.
The annual Kettukazhcha festival serves as a significant attraction for visitors. This major ten-day celebration occurs during 'Dhanu masa' (November–December) each year. The festivities commence with the raising of a traditional flag known as 'kodiettu' and conclude with the ritual of 'aarattu'.
The temple's administration is managed by the Mahadeva Seva Samithi, which includes participation from twelve villages referred to as '12 karakal' in Pandalam.
It is believed that Lord Parasuram was responsible for installing the principal idol within the Garbhagriha of this temple. Pandalam Mahadeva Temple is recognized as one of the most ancient among the 108 Shiva temples consecrated by the revered Sanayasin Khara Muni. This esteemed temple, renowned worldwide, is situated on the left bank of the Achenkovil River. Due to its proximity to the river, it is also referred to as 'Mukkal Vattom.'
The temple is located approximately 3 kilometers from Pandalam town in the state of Kerala, which is famously known as the birthplace of Lord Ayyappan.
The temple features a distinctive natural procession route surrounding the sanctum sanctorum. The river gently flows at the feet of the Mahadeva sanctum, reminiscent of the Ganges flowing from Shiva's hair.
The designation 'Mukkal Vattom' is attributed to the northeastern side of the temple, which is bordered by the river. The temple is not only dedicated to Lord Shiva but also venerates the idols of Lord Ganesh (Ganapathy), 'Maya-Ekshi Amma', Lord Ayyappa, Nagaraja (Lord Snake), Lord Subramanian, Brahma Rakshas, and Rakshas. Consequently, it serves as a representation and embodiment of 'KAILASAM'.

പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിൽ, പന്തളം ടൗണിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 3 കി.മി വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മുളമ്പുഴ ഗ്രാമത്തിലെ അച്ചൻകോവിലാറിന്റെ തീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ശിവക്ഷേത്രമാണ് പന്തളം മഹാദേവക്ഷേത്രം. ഖരമുനിയാൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം, മുൻപ് ഇടപ്പള്ളി സ്വരൂപത്തിന്റേതായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, ഇപ്പോൾ സമീപത്തെ പന്ത്രണ്ട് കരകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഹൈന്ദവരുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മയായ ഹൈന്ദവ സേവാസമിതിയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രഭരണം നടത്തുന്നത്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഈശാന കോണിനടുത്തായി അച്ചൻകോവിലാർ ഒഴുകുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പന്തളം മുക്കാൽവട്ടം എന്ന പേരിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ധനുമാസത്തിലെ ചതയം നാൾ കൊടിയേറി തിരുവാതിരനാൾ ആറാട്ടോടുകൂടി അവസാനിക്കുന്ന 10 ദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവമാണ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആഘോഷം. വ്യശ്ചികത്തിലെ കാർത്തിക, കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര, ശിവരാത്രി തുടങ്ങിയവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഗണപതി, സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ, മായയക്ഷിയമ്മ, ശാസ്താവ്, നാഗങ്ങൾ, രക്ഷസ് എന്നിവരാണ് ഉപദേവതകൾ.
