Thelliyoor Kavu Bhagavathy Temple, an ancient temple located in Kerala, is renowned for hosting two significant festivals: Padayani and Vanibham.
Vanibham (fair) is observed from the 5th to the 10th of the Malayalam month of Dhanu, which corresponds to mid-December. The Padayani ritual at Thelliyoor is distinct from those at other temples. The initial ceremony, known as Deepa Kottuka, involves the drumming of Thappu in a unique rhythm, and this is succeeded by the Choottu vaipu.
Following these rituals is the Pulavritham, after which performances of Ganapathy and Pisachu kolams take place. On the second day, the Pancha Kolam performances are held, featuring the kolams of Ganapathy, Madan, Yakshi, Pakshi, and Marutha. Adavi is commemorated on the third day, commencing with the ritual dance performed by Velan. Villagers assemble at the Pattambalam, where trees are subsequently planted in the kalam.
At approximately eight in the evening, Pulavritham is conducted, followed by the presentations of Kuthira kolam, Pattani (vinodam), Bhairavi, Anthara Yakshi, and Marutha Kolam. Upon the conclusion of these kolam performances, the rituals and preparations for Chooral Adavi commence.
The initial ritual involves the breaking of 64 tender coconuts by the performers. This is succeeded by the Maradavi ritual, and in the early hours of the morning, Chooral Adavi is observed.
During this event, performers roll themselves in a type of thorny cane, and the blood that seeps from their wounds is regarded as an offering to the Goddess. On the fourth day, Pulavritham is again performed, followed by the presentations of Anthara Yakshi and Marutha Kolams. The fifth day is dedicated to Edapadayani, featuring kolams such as Bhairavi, Kalan, Pakshi, and Yakshi.
The sixth and concluding day is dedicated to Valiya Padayani. The ceremonies commence with Pulavritham, followed by thappu melam, and are subsequently succeeded by chootu Padayani. The kolam performance initiates with Bhairavi and culminates with Mangala Bhairavi. An additional highlight of Thelliyoor Padayani is the display of effigies, with the chariot of Rukhmini Swayaram standing out as a distinctive feature.
തെള്ളിയൂർക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ മല്ലപ്പള്ളിയിൽ നിന്നും 11.2 കിലോമീറ്ററും വെണ്ണിക്കുളത്തുനിന്നും 4.5 കിലോമീറ്ററും അകലെയായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് തെള്ളിയൂർക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. കിഴക്കോട്ടു ദർശനമായി തെള്ളിയൂർക്കാവിലമ്മ ഭക്തരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. പ്രധാന വിഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ ഉയരം ഏകദേശം 5 അടിയോളം ആണ്.
എഴുമറ്റൂർ കോവിലകത്തിന്റെ പരദേവതയാണ്. ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് നല്ല ക്ഷത്രിയരുടെ അഭാവം കാരണം, കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിനടുത്തുള്ള അയിരൂർ കോവിലകത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ശുദ്ധക്ഷത്രിയർ എഴുമറ്റൂർ കോവിലകത്തിന്റെ മുൻഗാമികളായി വന്നതായി പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ആ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ കൊടുങ്ങല്ലൂരിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഭദ്രകാളിയെ ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുവന്നതായി കരുതുന്നു. അയിരൂർ ശ്രീ മൂലമുരാരി എന്നായിരുന്നു ഇവരുടെ സ്ഥലനാമം.
കുംഭത്തിലെ ഭരണി ഉത്സവം, അരിമാവ് ശർക്കര എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രസിദ്ധമായ തെരളി വഴിപാട് വാഴയിലയിൽ പുഴുങ്ങിയുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതാണ്. മുമ്പ് പത്തര ഏക്കർ കാവിലായിരുന്നു ക്ഷേത്രം, എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ കാവില്ല. ഇവിടെ ധാരാളം കുരങ്ങൻമാരുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഏലാം മഹാദേവർ ക്ഷേത്രവും എഴുമറ്റൂർ കോവിലകത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്, ഇവിടെ ശിവനും വിഷ്ണുവും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന രണ്ട് പ്രധാന മൂർത്തികൾ ഉണ്ട്.
തെള്ളിയൂർ വൃശ്ചിക വാണിഭം:- കാലം മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങുമ്പോൾ പഴമയെ ആദരിക്കുന്ന, ആചാരങ്ങളും പാരമ്പര്യങ്ങളും സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ജനവിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ ആഘോഷമായി തെള്ളിയൂർ വൃശ്ചിക വാണിഭം വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി നിലനിന്ന ഈ മേള, കേരളത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന ജാതീയ അടിച്ചമർത്തലുകൾക്കും മാറ്റിനിർത്തലുകൾക്കും എതിരായ ഒരു പ്രതിരോധശബ്ദമായിരുന്നു. ഓരോ വർഷവും, മണ്ഡല കാലം ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന വൃശ്ചികം ഒന്നു മുതൽ 10 ദിവസത്തോളം മേള നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രപരിസരത്ത് ഉണക്കസ്രാവ് വിൽപ്പന നടത്തുന്നത് ഒരു പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. മത്സ്യവിൽപ്പനയെക്കുറിച്ച് കേൾക്കുമ്പോൾ അതിശയമുണ്ടാകാം, എന്നാൽ ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്ന ഈ പ്രക്രിയ യാഥാർത്ഥ്യമാണ്. ആളുകൾ അവരുടെ കുലത്തൊഴിലുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഉണക്കസ്രാവുകൾ ഇവിടെ വിൽക്കാൻ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നു. അരയ സമുദായത്തിലെ ആളുകൾ ഉണക്കസ്രാവുകൾ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നുണ്ട്.
