Valiakoikkal Temple serves as the ancestral temple for the Pandalam Royal Family. It is situated in Pandalam, within the Pathanamthitta District of Kerala.
The location is within the grounds of the Pandalam Palace. The principal deity worshipped here is Ayyappan. Annually, prior to the Makaravilakku festival, the procession of the Thiruvabharanam (Sacred Ornaments) commences from the Valiyakoikkal temple, making its way to the Sabarimala shrine.
Each year, millions of devotees flock to this temple during the Makaravilakku festive period. All significant poojas and rituals practiced in the prominent temples of Kerala are also observed here. Saturdays tend to attract the largest number of visitors. The primary offerings include Sharkara Payasam, Aravana, and Unni appam.
പന്തളം വലിയ കോയിക്കൽ ധർമ്മശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം
വലിയകോയിക്കൽ ക്ഷേത്രം പന്തളം രാജകുടുംബത്തിന്റെ കുടുംബ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിൽ, പന്തളത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. പന്തളം കൊട്ടാരവളപ്പിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ അയ്യപ്പനാണ്.
എല്ലാ വർഷവും മകരവിളക്ക് ഉത്സവത്തിന് മുമ്പായി ശബരിമല ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്കുള്ള തിരുവാഭരണങ്ങളുടെ ഘോഷയാത്ര വലിയകോയിക്കൽ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നാണ് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. മകരവിളക്ക് ഉത്സവകാലത്ത് ദശലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തർ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സന്ദർശിക്കുന്നു.
പന്തളം രാജാവായിരുന്ന രാജ ശേഖരനാണ് അയ്യപ്പന്റെ നിത്യ പൂജകൾക്കായി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥാപിച്ചതെന്ന് ചരിത്രം സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. അയ്യപ്പൻ പന്തളം രാജാവിന്റെ മകനായി ഈ കൊട്ടാരത്തിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നുവെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. അയ്യപ്പന്റെ ജീവിതവുമായി അടുപ്പമുള്ള ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് മണ്ഡലകാലത്ത് ശബരിമലയെക്കാൾ വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്.
ബാലരൂപത്തിലുള്ള ശാസ്താവിന്റെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രധാനമായും കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. ശബരിമല തീർഥാടന കാലത്ത് വിശ്വാസികൾ ധാരാളമായി ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നു, ശബരിമലയിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ് ഇവിടെ എത്തി പ്രാർഥിച്ചു മാത്രമേ പോകാറുള്ളൂ.
