Sree Ashokeswaram Siva Temple, located in Vadakke Chira, Thrissur, is a sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva as the main deity.
The temple follows the tradition of performing three poojas daily. The major annual festival is celebrated on Maha Shivaratri, attracting numerous devotees who come to seek blessings.
One of the most significant observances at this temple is Pradosham, which holds deep spiritual meaning. The word "Pradosham" signifies the removal of doshas or afflictions. It is observed on the Trayodashi tithi (13th lunar day) that falls during the evening period. Just as Pournami (full moon) is special for the Goddess and Ekadashi is sacred for Lord Vishnu, Pradosham is an auspicious and powerful time for worshipping Lord Shiva.
According to belief, during the Pradosha twilight, Lord Shiva performs the cosmic dance (Tandava) as Nataraja in the presence of Goddess Parvati. All celestial beings (Devas and Devis) are said to be present during this sacred time. Observing the Pradosha Vratam (fast) is believed to invoke the blessings of all deities, making it a spiritually powerful occasion.The temple is open to devotees seven days a week, from 5:00 AM to 10:55 AM, providing a tranquil setting for worship and reflection.

ശ്രീ അശോകേശ്വരം ശിവ ക്ഷേത്രം തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ വടക്കെ ചിറയിലാണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ പരമശിവൻ ആയ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ദിവസവും മൂന്നു പൂജകൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം മഹാശിവരാത്രി ദിവസമാണ് ആഘോഷിക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ആ ദിവസം നിരവധി ഭക്തജനങ്ങൾ ദർശനത്തിനായി എത്തുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട അനുഷ്ഠാനങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് പ്രദോഷം. 'പ്രദോഷം' എന്നതിന്റെ അർഥം ദോഷങ്ങൾ നീക്കൽ എന്നാണ്. സന്ധ്യാസമയത്ത് ത്രയോദശി തിഥി വരുന്ന ദിവസമാണ് പ്രദോഷമായി കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്.
ഭഗവതിക്കായി പൗർണമി ദിനം പോലെ, മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന് ഏകാദശി ദിവസങ്ങൾ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതുപോലെ, മഹാദേവനായി ശിവഭഗവാനെ ആരാധിക്കാൻ ഏറ്റവും പ്രസക്തമായത് പ്രദോഷം തന്നെയാണ്. പുരാണങ്ങൾ പ്രകാരം, പ്രദോഷസന്ധ്യയിൽ പാർവതിദേവിയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിൽ ശിവൻ നടരാജനായി താണ്ടവനൃത്തം നടത്തുന്നു. അതിനിടെ സകല ദേവതകളും ആ ദിവ്യകായിക ദർശനം അനുഭവിക്കാൻ അന്ന് ശിവനെ ഭജിക്കുന്നു. അതിനാൽ തന്നെ പ്രദോഷ വ്രതം അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നത് എല്ലാ ദേവതകളുടെയും അനുഗ്രഹം ലഭിക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു എന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം.ക്ഷേത്രം ഏഴുദിവസവും പുലർച്ചെ 5:00 മുതൽ രാവിലെ 10:55 വരെ ഭക്തർക്കായി തുറന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
