Chembukkavu Bhagavathy Temple is a Hindu temple located in Chembukkavu, in the city of Thrissur, Kerala.
The temple is managed by the Cochin Devaswom Board and is considered one of the 108 Durga temples in Kerala. Every year, the temple actively participates in the renowned Thrissur Pooram festival. The deity at the nearby Ayyanthole temple is regarded as the elder sister of the Chembukkavu Bhagavathy.
It is believed that the goddess here embodies in Kanyaka Bhava. As the goddess is said to be sensitive to strong sunlight, her procession to the Vadakkumnathan Temple takes place before the sun becomes intense.
ചെമ്പൂക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം
പരശുരാമൻ സ്ഥാപിച്ച 108 ദുർഗ്ഗാക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ചെമ്പൂക്കാവ് ഭഗവതി ക്ഷേത്രം. തൃശ്ശൂർ നഗരത്തിലേക്ക് അടുത്ത് ചെമ്പൂക്കാവിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മുഖ്യപ്രതിഷ്ഠയായ കാർത്യായനീ ദേവി തൃശ്ശൂർ പൂരത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന പങ്കാളികളിൽ ഒരാളാണ്. അയ്യന്തോൾ കാർത്യായനി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഭഗവതിയും ചെമ്പൂക്കാവ് ഭഗവതിയും സഹോദരിമാരാണെന്ന വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. ഈ ഭഗവതിയെ കന്യകാഭാവത്തിൽ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു.
ഉപദേവതകളായി ഗണപതിയും അയ്യപ്പനും ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിതരാണ്. ഭഗവതിക്ക് ചാർത്തുന്ന ചന്ദനം തലവേദനക്കു ചികിൽസയായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ദേവിയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചാൽ വിവാഹം വേഗത്തിൽ നടക്കും എന്ന വിശ്വാസവുമുണ്ട്. നെയ്‌വിളക്കും ചന്ദനം ചാർത്തലുമാണ് ഇവിടെയുള്ള പ്രധാന വഴിപാടുകൾ.
