Sree Kirata Parvathi Temple, located in Paramelpadi, Kondazhy Panchayat, Thalappilly Taluk, Thrissur district, Goddess Parvati Devi, manifests in the divine form of Vanadurga, bestowing blessings upon all devotees.
Long ago, this region was a dense and wild forest. A revered yogi undertook intense penance under a Devil Tree (Alstonia scholaris), worshipping the divine Mother who manifested herself both as a stone idol and within the tree. Even after the yogi’s time, the divine energy remained rooted in this sacred spot.
As people began settling in the area, they started worshipping the stone idol beneath the Devil Tree, believing it to be a form of Bhadrakali Devi.
Over time, celebrations like Vishuvela and other traditional offerings were performed here.
Later, due to ignorance, the sacred Devil Tree was cut down by landowners. Those involved in the cutting and those who took ownership of the wood reportedly faced a series of misfortunes. Miraculously, soon after, another Devil Tree nearby flourished rapidly, covered in new life and believed to have absorbed the displaced divine energy. The locals, realizing its significance, began worshipping the stone idol under this new tree.
Following divine signs and astrological advice, the local community formed a trust and transformed the sacred site into a formal temple. Under the guidance of Sri Tharananallur Padmanabhan Namboothiri, the chief priest of Thriprayar Temple, Parvati Devi was consecrated in the fierce form of Vanadurga—adorned with Ashtanaga Abhushanam (eight serpent ornaments), dressed in leaves, and decorated with Manchadi seed garlands and peacock feathers.
Since Bhadrakali Devi had been worshipped at this site for generations, she was also consecrated beside Vanadurga Devi in the temple.
The temple’s annual festival is held in the Malayalam month of Medam (April-May) on the day of Atham, the star under which the deity was consecrated. Before the festival, Kalampattu rituals are performed as offerings to the Goddess. On the festival day, a Guruthi ritual is offered to Bhadrakali Devi, honoring her fierce presence and protection.

തൃശ്ശൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ തലപ്പിള്ളി താലുക്കിലെ കൊണ്ടാഴി പഞ്ചായത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പാറമേൽപ്പടി എന്ന സ്ഥലത്താണ് ലോകമാതാവായ പാർവ്വതി ദേവി, വനദുർഗാ രൂപത്തിൽ ഭക്തരെ അനുഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതായി വിശ്വാസമുള്ള ശ്രീ കിരാതപാർവ്വതി ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.ഒരുകാലത്ത്ഘനവനമായിരുന്ന ഈ പ്രദേശം ഒരു മഹായോഗിവര്യൻ തപസ്സ് നടത്തുന്നതിനായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഉപാസനാമൂർത്തിയായ ദേവി ശിലാരൂപത്തിലും സമീപത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പാലമരത്തിലും തന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യം പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി. തപസ്സിന് ശേഷം യോഗി തന്റെ പ്രാണനെ ഈ ദേവിയിൽ അർപ്പിച്ച് ഈ സ്ഥലത്ത് ദേവരൂപമായി നിലകൊണ്ടുവെന്ന് വിശ്വാസമാണ്. കാലക്രമേണ ജനവാസയോഗ്യമായ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെ സ്വദേശികൾ ദേവിയെ ഭദ്രകാളി സങ്കല്പത്തിൽ ആരാധിക്കുകയും വിഷുവേൽ പോലുള്ള ആചാരങ്ങളും ആഘോഷങ്ങളും നടത്തിത്തുടങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തു.
പിന്നീട് അറിവില്ലായ്മ മൂലം സ്ഥലമാലികർ പാലമരം മുറിച്ചു കളയുകയും അതിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നവർക്ക് പലവിധ അനർത്ഥങ്ങൾ സംഭവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാൽ അതിനടുത്തുള്ള ഒരു ശോഷിച്ച പാലമരം ദൈവീകതയാൽ അതിവേഗം പൂത്തുലഞ്ഞതോടെ നാട്ടുകാർ അതിനെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പുതിയ സാന്നിധ്യമായി കണക്കാക്കി. തുടർന്ന് ശിലാരൂപം പുതിയ പാലമരച്ചുവട്ടിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി ആരാധനം തുടർന്നു.
പ്രശ്നവിധിപ്രകാരം, ദേശവാസികൾ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട ട്രസ്റ്റിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രം നിർമ്മിക്കുകയും, തൃപ്രയാർ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ മുഖ്യതന്ത്രി ശ്രീ തരണനല്ലൂർ പത്മനാഭൻ നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ ദേവിയെ വനദുർഗാ സങ്കൽപ്പത്തിൽ, അഷ്ടനാഗാഭിഷേകവുമാണ്, ഇലവസ്ത്രം ധരിച്ചും, മഞ്ചാടിമാലയും മയിൽപ്പീലിയും അണിഞ്ഞ അവതാരത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവം മേടമാസത്തിലെ അത്തം നക്ഷത്രദിനത്തിലാണ്, അത് ദേവിയുടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനമായി വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉത്സവത്തിന് മുന്നോടിയായി ദേവിക്ക് വഴിപാടായി കളംപാട്ട് നടത്തപ്പെടുകയും, പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനത്തിൽ ഭദ്രകാളിക്കായി ഗുരുതി നടത്തപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
