Chenthitta Devi Temple is a historic shrine dedicated to the goddess, situated in Chenthitta, adjacent to the Central Railway Station in the Thiruvananthapuram district.
This temple is dedicated to the Goddess Bhadrakali. There are distinct temples for the subsidiary deities Ganesha, Shiva, Murugan, Ayyappan, and Krishna. The Navratri festival held here is a significant event that attracts thousands of devotees from both nearby and distant locations. The days of Navratri are observed with immense enthusiasm at the Chenthitta Devi Temple, where the mother goddess is revered in her form as Bhadrakali. Prior to the commencement of the Navratri festivities, a grand procession transports Goddess Munnutinanga from the Suchindram Thanumalaya Perumal Temple to the Chenthitta Temple. In fact, the deity arrives here from Suchindram during the Mahanavami festival.
Navratri is celebrated as a time to honor the Mother Goddess. Special prayers and a range of cultural events take place at the temple during the festival. The Navratri celebrations include weapon pooja, book pooja, sopana music, nadaswara concerts, vidyarambham, and various cultural programs. On Mahanavami, the ninth and concluding day of this sacred festival, devotees of Durga honor Siddhidatri. Hindu mythology recounts that on this day, Maa Durga vanquished the buffalo demon Mahishasura. The primary rituals conducted at the temple include Garudan Thookkam, Thottampattu, and Kalamezhutthum Paattum.
ചെന്തിട്ട ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം
തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ, സെൻട്രൽ റെയിൽവേ സ്റ്റേഷനു സമീപം, ചെന്തിട്ടയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പുരാതന ദേവീക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ചെന്തിട്ട ദേവീക്ഷേത്രം. തമ്പാനൂരിൽ നിന്ന് 500 മീറ്റർ, കിഴക്കേക്കോട്ടയിൽ നിന്ന് 1 കിലോമീറ്റർ, കിള്ളിപ്പാലത്തിൽ നിന്ന് 400 മീറ്റർ, കരമനയിൽ നിന്ന് 1.5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിക്ക് സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഗണേശൻ, ശിവൻ, മുരുകൻ, അയ്യപ്പൻ, കൃഷ്ണൻ എന്നിവരുടെ പ്രത്യേക ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവം ഇവിടെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നത്, സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെയും ദൂരദേശങ്ങളിലെയും ആയിരക്കണക്കിന് ഭക്തരെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രധാന ചടങ്ങാണ്. ഭദ്രകാളിയുടെ രൂപത്തിൽ ഉള്ള മാതൃദേവതയായ ചെന്തിട്ട ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നവരാത്രി നാളുകൾ വളരെ ആവേശത്തോടെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
നവരാത്രി ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നതിന് മുമ്പായി, ശുചീന്ദ്രം താണുമാലയ പെരുമാൾ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മുന്നൂറ്റിനങ്ങാ ദേവിയെ വലിയ ഘോഷയാത്രയോടെ ചെന്തിട്ട ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകും. യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ, മഹാനവമി ഉത്സവ സമയത്താണ് ശുചീന്ദ്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ഇവിടെ എത്തുന്നത്. മാതൃദേവിയെ വണങ്ങുന്നതിനായി നവരാത്രി ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. മഹാനവമി കാലത്ത് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തും സമീപ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ദർശനം നടത്താൻ ആളുകൾ പ്രധാനമായും മൂന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലേക്കാണ് പോകുന്നത്. പത്മനാഭ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് സമീപമുള്ള സരസ്വതി ക്ഷേത്രം, ശുചീന്ദ്രത്തിൽ നിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുവന്ന ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം, ചെന്തിട്ട ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നിവയാണ് ഇവ.
ഗരുഡൻ തൂക്കൽ, തോറ്റംപാട്ട്, കളമെഴുത്ത്, പാട്ട് എന്നിവ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ആചാരങ്ങളായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്നു.
ഈ അടുത്ത കാലത്ത് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ വലിയ തീപിടിത്തം സംഭവിച്ച് വലിയ നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായി. വിളക്കിൽ നിന്നോ ഷോർട്ട് സർക്യൂട്ടിൽ നിന്നോ തീ പടർന്നതായിരിക്കാം അപകടത്തിന് കാരണമെന്നാണ് പറയപ്പെടുന്നത്. തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം.
