Choorakattupalayam Shri Sivashakthi Madan Thampuran Devasthanam is situated one kilometer from Thiruvananthapuram.

The Kalasha Puja and Madan Koda Mahotsavam are observed over a three-day period during the month of Medamasam (April). Madan Thamburan is regarded as a protective deity, safeguarding individuals from malevolent forces. His veneration persists through customs that predate the Vedic tradition and reflect a syncretism with Shaivism, embodying the practices of the Dravidian folk religion. Devotees offer non-vegetarian dishes to him, which diverges from mainstream Hindu customs.
Ritual sacrifices of goats, chickens, and pigs are made in his honor. Worship is particularly emphasized on Fridays. His principal festivals occur annually and are referred to as "Kodai." The duration of Kodai celebrations varies according to the devotees' preferences, with some prominent temples observing it for up to ten days. The Madan Kodamahotsavam at the Sri Shivashakti Madan Tampuran Temple in Churakkatpalayam is observed over three days during the month of Medamasam.

തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിൽ പ്രധാനമായും ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രാമീണ ദ്രാവിഡ നാടോടി ദൈവമാണ് മാടൻ തമ്പുരാൻ. ശിവൻറെയും പാർവതിയുടെയും മകനായാണ് ശിവഭക്തർ മാടൻ തമ്പുരാനെ കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്. ദുഷ്ടശക്തികളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള രക്ഷകനായാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്.
വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയാണ് പ്രധാന ദിവസം. "കൊടൈ" മഹോത്സവം, വർഷം തോറും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രധാന ഉത്സവമാണ്. ഭക്തരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങൾക്കനുസരിച്ച്, ഒരു ദിവസം മുതൽ പല ദിവസങ്ങളോളം കൊടൈ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ചില പ്രശസ്ത ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ 10 ദിവസത്തോളം ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ നടക്കുന്നു.
ഈ അവസരങ്ങളിൽ ദേവനെ പൂക്കൾ കൊണ്ട് അലങ്കരിക്കുന്നു. ചിലർ ഉറഞ്ഞ് തുള്ളുകയും, ഭക്തർ അവരിലൂടെ ദേവനോട് സംസാരിക്കുകയെന്ന വിശ്വാസം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നു. ആത്മീയമായി സമ്പന്നനായ ഈ വ്യക്തിയിലൂടെ ദേവൻ സെമിത്തേരിയിൽ വേട്ടയാടുന്നതായി വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
