Deveswaram Umamaheswara Mahadevar Temple (ദേവേശ്വരം ഉമാമഹ്വേശ്വര മഹാദേവ ക്ഷേത്രം) a thousand-year-old Shiva temple located in Kilimanoor Thiruvananthapuram is dedicated to Mahadevar (Shiva) and Uma (Goddess Parvati). The temple has a circular sanctum sanctorum – vatta sreekovil. The roof is covered with gold-plated metal.
The ancient Sri Mahadeveswaram temple is situated in Deveswaram, within the Kilimanoor region. This temple is distinguished by its numerous features. In Kerala, there are several temples where Lord Shiva is revered as a principal deity of the Trimurti, among which is the Deveswaram Umamaheswara Mahadevar Temple. This Shiva temple, believed to be over a millennium old, serves as a sanctuary for the local community. A notable aspect of this temple is its serene, devotional, and nature-friendly environment.
Approximately one year ago, Kanara Harishree Saji from Kilimanoor generously donated a bull to the temple. Saji had previously received a cow from the temple with the understanding that its first offspring would be presented to the temple. Thus, Shambhu came to reside at the temple. The principal festival of the temple is Shivaratri, celebrated in the month of Kumbham. Other significant occasions include Thiruvathira in the month of Dhanu, the mandalam period, Ramayana month, and Navratri. The Navratri Puja is a nine-day celebration commencing on the new moon day of the Kanni month, during which special pujas are conducted to honor the goddess. On the eighth day, known as Durgashtami, books are offered for puja in the evening. The following day, Mahanavami, concludes the puja, and on Vijayadashami, the books are collected after the morning puja, marking the initiation of Vidyarambham for young children on the same day.

ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ ലിംഗം ആയ മഹാദേവൻ, ശിവൻ ആണ. ഏകദേശം ആയിരം വർഷത്തിലധികം പഴക്കമുള്ളതായി കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം പ്രദേശവാസികൾക്കായുള്ള ശരണാലയമാണ്. ദേവേശ്വരത്തിന്റെ പ്രത്യേകത ഈ സ്ഥലം ശാന്തവും പ്രകൃതിയോട് ഇണങ്ങിയതുമായ ഭക്തിസാന്ദ്രമായ അന്തരീക്ഷം ആണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന വിശേഷദിവസം ശിവരാത്രിയാണ്, കൂടാതെ ധനുമാസത്തിലെ തിരുവാതിര, മണ്ഡലകാലം, രാമായണമാസം, നവരാത്രി എന്നിവയും വലിയ ആഘോഷങ്ങളോടെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടത്തുന്നു. നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവം കന്നിമാസത്തിലെ അമാവാസി മുതൽ ഒമ്പത് ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിൽക്കുന്ന പുണ്യകാലമാണ്. ഈ സമയത്ത് ദേവിപ്രീതിക്കായി പ്രത്യേക പൂജകളും ചടങ്ങുകളും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു, അവയിൽ ദുർഗ്ഗാഷ്ടമി, മഹാനവമി, വിദ്യാരംഭം എന്നിവയും ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.
