Kuzhivilakam Sri Nagarukav Deviksetram is a revered sanctuary where Abhishtavaradaini, the embodiment of the land's prosperity, is worshipped as the formidable Mother Durga and Bhadra Devi. Additionally, Sri Mahaganapati, known for eliminating obstacles, along with the powerful serpent deities, thrive and safeguard both the land and its inhabitants.The associated deities include Brahmarakshas, Mantramurti, and Yigneswaran.
Sarpabali is a unique ritual conducted once every seven years at the Sri Nagarukav Devi Temple located in Edackode Kuzhivilakam. Majestic serpents are depicted as ornaments adorning the jatabhara of the neck and wrists of Lord Shiva. Lord Vishnu, the universe's protector, is depicted in yogic slumber on Anantashaya. A fierce serpent is positioned atop the crown of the eternally potent Maheshwari. Furthermore, the serpent transforms into Odyana on the belly of Lord Ganapati, symbolizing the preservation of the universe. The significance of the serpentine deities lies in their reverence from both gods and demons alike. The Naga Gods possess the power to govern both the Devas and the Asuras. Various remedies are employed to appease the anger of snakes and to counteract malevolent forces.
Ordinary Naga Pujas are typically conducted for individuals or their families. In contrast, the grand Sarpabali is performed for the community, encompassing local residents and their families. The rituals are conducted before Shri Nagaraja, who is specially adorned and concealed among 64 crore serpent deities, including Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, Nagakanyaka, Ashtanagas, Gulika, Vasuki, Sankhupalakan, Rakshaka, Mahapadman, Padman, and Karkotaka, all surrounded by Kundalini at the center of Shaktikana Vahichiruttha and Gurutikalam. The rituals culminate with the addition of fireballs, which, when appeased through Poojas and mantras, pacify the anger of the serpents. According to the Naga Puranas, such practices are believed to dispel all forms of evil.
It is widely believed that participation in the Sarpabali conducted in the presence of Nagaraja, Nagayakshiamma, and Nagakanyaka, the bestower of children, will alleviate the curse of the snake, mitigate the fear of poison, and protect children, ultimately leading to the complete prosperity.

ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമായ നാഗരൂട്ട് മഹോത്സവം, കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ 3 ദിവസങ്ങളിലായി ആചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ആയില്ല്യം നാളിൽ ഈ ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു, വാസുകി നാഗരാജാവിന്റെ തിരുനാൾ ദിവസമായ കുംഭ മാസത്തിലെ ആയില്ല്യം, നാട്ടിന്റെ മഹോത്സവമായി മാറുകയും, ആചാരങ്ങളും താന്ത്രിക പൂജകളും വലിയ ആഘോഷത്തോടെ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു.
