Kamakshi Ekambareshwara Temple is situated in Karamana, (ശ്രീ കാമാക്ഷി ഏകാമ്പരേശ്വർ ക്ഷേത്രം) within the Thiruvananthapuram district, approximately 750 meters from the Karaman Ekambareswara Swamy Temple, which is renowned as one of the prominent temples in Kanchipuram, dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Ekambareshwara Swamy Temple is a renowned temple located in Kancheepuram, notable for the presence of Lord Ganesha. It is recognized as one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where esteemed Saivite saints have extolled the virtues of this sacred site. Adjacent to the idol of Lord Ganesha is the Sannidhi of Jagathguru Sankaracharya of Kanchi, while to Ganesha's right stands Lord Subramanya. The central area of the temple houses the Sannidhis of Kamakshi Amman and Ekambareswarar. Significant festivals celebrated at the Kamakshi Ekambareswarar Temple include Maha Shivaratri and the monthly Pradosha pooja.
The temple hosts a variety of festivals, with the Painguni Brahmotsavam being the most prominent. This ten-day celebration occurs during March and April and culminates in the Kalyanotsavam, making it one of the most celebrated temple festivals in Kanchipuram.
Ekambareswara Swamy Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and features a Siva Linga that is one of the Pancha Bootha (five elements) lingas, representing the element of Earth. The Siva Lingam, crafted from sand by Kamakshi Devi (Parvathi Devi) beneath a mango tree, is also referred to as Rudhrasala, Rudrakoti, and Bhukailasah.
കാമാക്ഷി ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം
തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ കരമനയിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന കാമാക്ഷി ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം, കരമനയിൽ നിന്നും 750 മീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ്. ശ്രീ കാമാക്ഷി സമേത ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം, കാഞ്ചീപുരത്തിന്റെ പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഗണപതിയുടെ സന്നിധിയും ഉണ്ട്. ശൈവ സന്യാസിമാർ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ 275 പാദൽപേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ആലപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത് ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ്. ഗണപതിയുടെ സന്നിധിക്ക് സമീപം കാഞ്ചിയിലെ ജഗത്ഗുരു ശങ്കരാചാര്യരുടെ സന്നിധി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഗണപതിയുടെ വിഗ്രഹത്തിന്റെ വലതുവശത്ത് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ ഉണ്ട്. കാമാക്ഷി അമ്മയും ഏകാംബരേശ്വരനും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മധ്യഭാഗത്ത് സന്നിധിയുള്ളവരാണ്. കാമാക്ഷി ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവങ്ങളിൽ മഹാശിവരാത്രി ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു, കൂടാതെ എല്ലാ മാസവും പ്രദോഷ പൂജയും നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. എല്ലാ വിശേഷദിവസങ്ങളിലും ആചാരങ്ങൾ പാലിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഉത്പത്തിയെക്കുറിച്ച് നിരവധി ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങൾ നിലവിലുണ്ട്. ഒരു തവണ ദേവി പാർവതി വേഗാവതി നദിയുടെ തീരത്ത് ഒരു മാവിൻ ചുവട്ടിൽ ഇരുന്ന് തപസ്സനുഷ്ടിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ശിവൻ ദേവി പാർവതിയുടെ ഭക്തിയെ പരീക്ഷിക്കാൻ അഗ്നിയെ അയച്ചു. ദേവി അപ്പോൾ ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണുവിനെ ആരാധിക്കുകയും, വിഷ്ണു പാർവതിയുടെ രക്ഷയ്ക്കായി എത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. പാർവതിയുടെ തപസ്സിനെ ഭംഗപ്പെടുത്താൻ ഭഗവാൻ ശിവൻ ഗംഗയെ അയച്ചുവെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. ശിവൻ, ദേവിക്ക് മുന്നിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടപ്പോൾ, പാർവതിയുടെ ഭക്തിയും ആദരവുമെന്താണ് എന്നതിന്റെ ആഴം മനസ്സിലാക്കി. മാവിൻ വൃക്ഷത്തിൽനിന്ന് ജനിച്ച ദേവനാണ് ഏകാംബരേശ്വരൻ എന്നൊരു ഐതിഹ്യം ഉണ്ട്.
കാഞ്ചീപുരം കാമാക്ഷി ഏകാംബരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ശിവനെ ഭൗമലിംഗ രൂപത്തിൽ ആരാധിക്കുന്നു. 192 അടി ഉയരമുള്ള മധ്യ ക്ഷേത്ര ഗോപുരം ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരം കൂടിയ ഗോപുരമാണ്. പ്രധാന ഘടനയിൽ കൊത്തുപണികളുള്ള വലിയ കൽത്തൂണുകൾ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. പ്രധാന ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനടുത്ത് 3500 വർഷം പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു മാവുണ്ട്, ഈ മാവിന്റെ ചുവട്ടിൽ പാർവ്വതി ദേവി തപസ്സു ചെയ്തുവെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു. മരത്തിൻറെ നാല് ശാഖകളും നാല് വേദങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതീകമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു, ഓരോ ശാഖയും വ്യത്യസ്ത രുചികളുള്ള ഫലങ്ങൾ കായ്ക്കുന്നു.
