Avaduthura Devi Temple, situated on the shores of Kovalam in the Thiruvananthapuram district, is a renowned place of worship. It is the sacred abode of Kovalathamma.
This temple is devoted to Sri Bhadrakali Devi and Sri Bhuvaneshwari Devi. Additionally, it features sub-deities including Shri Ayyappan, Shri Krishna, and various Naga Deities. Situated on Kovalam beach, in proximity to the nearly completed Vizhinjam International Port, the temple is nestled within a serene and picturesque natural setting. The Paranete Mahotsavam at the Aavaduthura Devi Temple in Kovalam, also known as Keezheveed, is a significant devotional event. This ceremony marks the domiciliation of Kovalathamma. The anniversary of dedication and the temple festival occur during the month of Meenam, celebrated as Meenamakayirolsavam.
Notable rituals such as Ashtanaga Puja and Noorum Pal are associated with the Ayilya Puja held in the month of Thulam.
Another prominent celebration at the temple is Navratri, which draws numerous devotees. The Vidyarambham ceremony takes place on Vijayadashami, coinciding with the Navratri festival. Throughout the Mandala season in the month of Vrischikam, the Vrischika Mandala Mahotsava and Trikartika are observed. Additionally, the Vishu festival is celebrated in Medam, along with the Ramayana masacharanam in Karkidakam and the Adi Chowva Utsavam.

തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ കോവളം കടപ്പുറത്ത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രശസ്തമായ ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് ആവാടുതുറ ദേവിക്ഷേത്രം (കീഴേവീട്). ഭക്തവത്സലമായ ശ്രീ ഭുവനേശ്വരിയും ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിയും, ദുഷ്ടങ്ങളെ നിഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതിൽ കഴിവുള്ളവരും, അഭീഷ്‌ടങ്ങൾ സഫലമാക്കുന്നവരുമായാണ് ഇവരുടെ വിശേഷണം. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ശ്രീ ഭദ്രകാളി ദേവിക്കും, ശ്രീ ഭുവനേശ്വരി ദേവിക്കുമായി സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ശ്രീ അയ്യപ്പൻ, ശ്രീ കൃഷ്ണൻ, നാഗദൈവങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആരാധിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പണി പൂർത്തിയായ വിഴിഞ്ഞം അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര തുറമുഖത്തിനടുത്താണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. പ്രകൃതിയുടെ മനോഹാരിതയും ശാന്തതയും നിറഞ്ഞ ഈ സ്ഥലം, ഭക്തരുടെ ആകർഷണത്തിനും ആത്മശാന്തിക്കുമുള്ള ഒരു കേന്ദ്രമാണ്.
പുണ്യപുരാതനമായ കോവളം ആവാടുതുറ (കീഴേവീട്) ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ശരണാഗത ഭക്തവത്സലമായ കോവളത്തമ്മമാരുടെ തിരുഉത്സവം (മീന മകയിര മഹോത്സവം) പ്രതിഷ്‌ഠാ വാർഷികവും മീനമാസത്തിൽ ക്ഷേത്രാചാരപ്രകാരമുള്ള അനുഷ്‌ഠാനങ്ങളോടുകൂടി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
കോവളം ആവാടുതുറ ദേവിക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ (കീഴേവീട്) ഭക്തി നിറഞ്ഞ ചടങ്ങുകൾക്ക് പ്രസിദ്ധമാണ്. കോവളത്തമ്മയെ പുറന്നെഴുന്നള്ളിച്ച് കുടിയിരുത്തുന്ന ചടങ്ങാണ് ഇത്. തുലാമാസത്തിലെ ആയില്യപൂജയോടനുബന്ധിച്ചുള്ള അഷ്ടനാഗപൂജയും നൂറും പാലും ഏറെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തമായ മറ്റൊരു ഉത്സവം നവരാത്രി ആഘോഷമാണ്. നിരവധി ഭക്തരെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന പ്രത്യേക ദിനമാണ് ഇത്. നവരാത്രി ഉത്സവത്തിന്റെ വിജയദശമി ദിനത്തിൽ വിദ്യാരംഭം നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. വൃശ്ചിക മാസത്തിൽ, മണ്ഡലകാലം മുഴുവൻ വൃശ്ചിക മണ്ഡല മഹോത്സവവും, തൃക്കാർത്തികയും ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. മേടത്തിൽ വിഷു ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. കർക്കിടക മാസത്തിൽ രാമായണമാസാചരണം, ആടി ചൊവ്വ ഉത്സവം എന്നിവയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
