The ancient Melattumoozhi Sri Mahavishnu Sree Dharmashasta temple (മേലാട്ടുമൂഴി വിഷ്ണു ശാസ്താ ക്ഷേത്രം) managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board, is situated in the Melatumoozhi area of Nedumangad taluk within the Thiruvananthapuram district. The temple is located 5.9 kilometers from Vamanapuram via Karette and 10.9 kilometers from Venjaramoodu.
Positioned along the banks of the Vamanapuram River, the longest river in the Thiruvananthapuram district, this temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Dharmashasta. The Thiruvamanapuram temple holds significant importance as the most notable of the three Vamana temples in the historical Travancore region, and it is believed that the name 'Vamanapuram' originated from this temple.
Historically, Vamanapuram was governed by the Kaipuzharaja family. Notably, the local farmers once united to expel the Dutch army from the area. Historical accounts indicate that Veluthampi Dalava and members of the royal families associated with Kilimanoor Palace traversed Vamanapuram and visited the Thiruvamana temple.

The Uthiramahotsavam in the month of Kumbham is the principal festival celebrated at the Melatumoozhi Sri Maha Vishnu Sri Dharmashasta Temple. This festival, known as the festival of festivals in Vamanapuram village, spans four days during Kumbham. It is a time of collective celebration, transcending caste, creed, and color, and is regarded as a year of mercy against contemporary evils. The Uthiram Utsavam is deeply rooted in the history of human habitation in the Vamanapuram region.
As a sacred site where Shasta, Lord Vishnu, and the Vamanapuram River converge, the temple is particularly suitable for Pithrutharpanam, attracting numerous devotees who visit for Vavubali during the month of Karkatakam.

ക്ഷേത്രം കുംഭമാസത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ഉത്രമഹോത്സവം കൊണ്ടാണ് ഏറ്റവും പ്രശസ്തമായത്. ഈ നാലുദിവസത്തെ ഉത്സവം വാമനപുരം ഗ്രാമത്തിന്റെ ‘ഉത്സവങ്ങളുടെ ഉത്സവം’ എന്ന വിശേഷണത്തിനർഹമാക്കുന്ന രീതിയിൽ എല്ലാ ജനവിഭാഗങ്ങളെയും ഒരുമിച്ചുനിർത്തുന്നു. നാഗപൂജകൾ, താളവാദ്യങ്ങൾ, ഭക്തിയുടെ ആഴത്തിൽ നീണ്ടുചെല്ലുന്ന പുഷ്പാഞ്ജലി, ശാസ്താംപാട്ട് എന്നിവയുടെ അലങ്കാരങ്ങൾ ചേർന്നാണ് ഉത്സവം ഭക്തജനങ്ങളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നത്.
