Sree Mithranandapuram Thrimoorthy Temple Pazhavangadi Thiruvananthapuram

The Mithrananthapuram temple complex is located adjacent to the Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. Within this complex, there are temples dedicated to the deities Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma. The pathway through the complex leads visitors to these three temples. The first temple encountered is dedicated to Vishnu, marked by a Garuda statue positioned at its entrance. The idol of Vishnu is depicted in a standing posture, holding a conch, wheel, mace, and lotus flower in his four hands. The festival of Ashtami Rohini, which celebrates the birth of Krishna, is observed here. In front of the main granite idol, there is a smaller metallic idol, believed to have been worshipped by Sage Vilwamangalam Swamiyar.

Adjacent to the Vishnu temple is the temple dedicated to Shiva, which also features a Ganesha temple in its southwestern corner. Maha Shivaratri is the principal festival celebrated at this temple. During this festival, the Vasordhara Homam, a sacred fire sacrifice for the welfare of society, is performed under the guidance of Brahmins. Following the Shiva temple is the temple dedicated to Nagaraja. Slightly behind the Vishnu temple lies the Brahma temple, which is quite rare in India. The statue of Brahma is crafted from stone, depicted in a seated position with only one head, unlike the traditional four. Inside the Brahma temple, there is a small Ganesha temple accompanied by his consorts. The primary form of worship in this Ganesha temple involves covering the idol with Appam. It is believed that this Brahma temple was established to dispel a Yakshi that was causing disturbances. Although women were initially prohibited from entering this temple, they are now permitted with certain restrictions.

According to legend, Villwamangalath Swamiyar is credited with consecrating the idols within the temple. It is also said that the Trimurtis performed a significant fire yajna here in honor of the Sun God, Mithra, which is why the complex is referred to as Mithrananthapuram, meaning the town that brings joy to the Sun.

തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ പത്മനാഭ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് സമീപം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന മിത്രാനന്തപുരം ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ചയം, കേരളത്തിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനമായ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രധാന ആകർഷണമാണ്. ഈ സമുച്ചയത്തിൽ ശിവൻ, വിഷ്ണു, ബ്രഹ്മാവ് എന്നിവരുടെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. എല്ലാ ദേവതകളും കിഴക്കോട്ട് ദർശനമുണ്ട്. തുടക്കത്തിൽ, ഈ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ പത്മനാഭ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലായിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ പിന്നീട് ഇവ സ്വതന്ത്രമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി. അനന്തപത്മനാഭ സ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പൂജാരിമാർ മിത്രാനന്ദപുരത്തിൽ താമസിക്കുന്നു. 12 വർഷത്തിലൊരിക്കൽ, തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് 'മുറജപം' എന്ന വേദ മന്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ ജപത്തിനായി വേദ പണ്ഡിതന്മാർ ഈ കോമ്പൗണ്ടിൽ ഒത്തുകൂടുന്നു.

ഈ സമുച്ചയത്തിലെ പാത മൂന്ന് ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലേക്കാണ് നയിക്കുന്നത്. ആദ്യം, പുറത്ത് ഗരുഡ പ്രതിമയുള്ള ഒരു വിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രം കാണാം, അവിടെ നാലുകൈകളിൽ ശംഖ്, ചക്രം, ഗദ, താമര എന്നിവ വഹിക്കുന്നു.

വിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് സമീപത്താണ് ശിവക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് ഒരു ഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രവും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. മഹാ ശിവരാത്രി ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രധാന ഉത്സവമായി ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു. ബ്രാഹ്മണരുടെ മാർഗനിർദേശപ്രകാരം, ഈ സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ സമ്പൂർണ്ണ ക്ഷേമത്തിനായി ധാരയെ ഭയപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന അഗ്നിയോടുള്ള ഏറ്റവും പവിത്രമായ യാഗമാണ് വസോർധാര ഹോമം, ഇത് ശിവരാത്രി ഉത്സവത്തിൽ നടത്തപ്പെടുന്നു. ശിവക്ഷേത്രത്തിനടുത്ത് നാഗരാജാവിനുള്ള ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രവും ഉണ്ട്.

വിഷ്ണു ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് കുറച്ച് അകലെ ബ്രഹ്മ ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ ബ്രഹ്മാവിന്റെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ വളരെ അപൂർവമാണ്. ഇരിക്കുന്ന ഭാവത്തിൽ, നാലെണ്ണത്തിന് പകരം ഒരു തല മാത്രമുള്ള ബ്രഹ്മ പ്രതിമ കല്ലുകൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ബ്രഹ്മ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ഭാര്യമാരോടൊപ്പം ഒരു ചെറിയ ഗണപതി ക്ഷേത്രവും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
