Panthuvila Devi temple is situated in the village of Cherunniyur, within the Varkala taluk of the Thiruvananthapuram district, and is dedicated to the goddess Devi.
The temple is located 3.4 kilometers from the center of Varkala. Currently, the temple is undergoing extensive renovations, with construction progressing rapidly. The deities have been temporarily placed in Balalaya. This renovation effort, undertaken collaboratively by the temple custodians and the community, is a manifestation of ancient merit. All devotees are encouraged to provide their generous support and cooperation, contributing as donors to receive the blessings of the Goddess for the fulfillment of the temple's spirit.
Makararevathi Thirunal Utsav, the yearly celebration of the Panthuvila Devi Temple, takes place on the day of Revathi in the month of Makaram. This three-day event features a variety of ceremonies.
Thottampattu is another significant ritual during temple festivals dedicated to the presiding deities Bhadrakali or Bhagavati. In these temples, the festivities commence with the kudiyiruthu, which entails escorting the deity to a temporary shelter constructed from thatched coconut leaves within the temple grounds, where the deity remains until the conclusion of the festival.
ചെറുന്നിയൂർ പന്തുവിള ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം
തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിൽ വർക്കല താലൂക്കിലെ ചെറുന്നിയൂർ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പന്തുവിള ദേവീ ക്ഷേത്രം വളരെ പ്രശസ്തമാണ്. വർക്കല ടൗൺ സെൻററിൽ നിന്ന് 3.4 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം.
മകരമാസത്തിലെ രേവതി നാളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന വാർഷിക ഉത്സവമായ മകരരേവതി തിരുനാൾ, മൂന്ന് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം വിവിധ ചടങ്ങുകളോടെ ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നു.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ നവീകരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ വേഗത്തിൽ പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നു. ദേവതകളെ ഇപ്പോൾ ബാലാലയത്തിൽ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്ര പരിപാലകരും, നാട്ടുകാരും ചേർന്ന് നടത്തുന്ന ഈ നവീകരണം, പൂർവ്വപുണ്യത്തിന്റെ ഫലമാണ്. പന്തുവിള ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ തോറ്റംപാട്ട് ക്ഷേത്ര ഉത്സവം-ൻ്റെ പ്രധാന ചടങ്ങാണ്.
ദേവീക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ഭദ്രകാളിയോ ഭഗവതിയോ ആണെങ്കിൽ, തോറ്റംപാട്ട് പ്രധാനമായ ചടങ്ങായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഉത്സവം ദേവിയെ കുടിയിരുത്തുന്നതോടെ ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു, ഉത്സവം അവസാനിക്കുന്നതുവരെ ക്ഷേത്രപരിസരത്ത് ഓല മേഞ്ഞ തെങ്ങിൻ ഇലകൾ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിർമ്മിച്ച താത്കാലിക കുടിലിലേക്ക് ദേവിയെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കുന്നു. ദേവിയെ ഓല മേഞ്ഞ കുടിലിലേക്ക് ക്ഷണിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം തോറ്റംപാട്ട് ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. തമിഴ് ഗ്രന്ഥമായ ചിലപ്പതികാരത്തിലെ കണ്ണകിയുടെ കഥയെ ആസ്പദമാക്കി ഒരുക്കിയ തോറ്റംപാട്ട് ഒരു ഭക്തിഗാനവും ആചാരവുമാണ്. അനുഷ്ഠാന ഗാനം പത്ത് ദിവസങ്ങളോളം തുടരുന്നു, ഓരോ ദിവസവും പറയുന്ന കഥയും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ആചാരങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
